What is Acupunture?

Acupuncture has been in practice for more than 3,000 years but what is it actually? Let us share a simple explanation. Acupuncture is a non-invasive technique with strong roots under Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that treats various conditions by inserting thin needles into specific body points at different depths to balance the body’s life energy (Qi).

HOW IT WORKS

How Does Acupuncture Work

The treatment may sound complex but in truth, it is built upon the basic foundation of harmonious balance. Let us explain how acupuncture works. In TCM, good health is the result of a harmonious balance between yin and yang in the life energy called Qi (pronounced “chi”).

An imbalance in these energies causes various illnesses. The degree of imbalance can be assessed through pulse reading. Acupuncture can then be applied to restore balance to the yin and yang and improve blood flow to the specific areas of the body by inserting needles in specific points along the body’s meridian line.

Types of Acupuncture

TCM health management is built on the principle of regulating Qi (pronounced chi) the body's vital energy, which flows along specific channels or meridians. It is essential for Qi to be balanced in order to achieve spiritual, emotional, and physical health. Qi acupuncture helps to prevent and cure diseases as well as improve health through regulation of the body.

Muscle tightness and poor body posture often leads to an imbalance in our body’s structural alignment and may cause chronic joint and muscle pain as well as spine injuries if left untreated. Alignment acupuncture stimulates specific points on the body to help correct body alignment, abnormal movement patterns, muscle imbalance & postural distortions.

Scalp acupuncture is a micro-system acupuncture technique which stimulate the points or areas on the scalp to treat brain related diseases, neurological and psychological conditions. It can also help with headaches, chronic pain related to the brain and may also be beneficial to stroke patients. This acupuncture therapy works through the stimulation of reflex areas within the scalp that can help to regulate functional activities of the brain and body.

The key foundation of TCM is based on maintaining the body in a ‘balanced state' of Yin and Yang. Critical illness occurs when a major state of imbalance or disruption arises, and the use of acupuncture may help in correcting these imbalances. Acupuncture have been known to be an effective non-invasive treatment method to manage critical illnesses such Stroke, Cardiovascular diseases, Cancer and Diabetes and can be combined with other forms of treatments for a more holistic approach to health management.
